OUR TEXT
Matthew 5:10
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
How would you like to experience the Kingdom of God on earth? How would you like to live such a devoted life to Jesus that angels and Jesus visit you on earth and it seems that you are really mixing with heaven on earth? This is something that is awesome. But you must chose who you tell about these experiences as the wrong people will mock you and tell others that you are out of your mind. This is a form of persecution.
Also when you actively obey the teachings of Jesus and build your house on the rock and share with others what they have to do also, the people that have built their life on the sand will mock you. They will want to tear you to pieces with gossip and slander.
To follow this Sermon on the Mount and practice it in your life makes you a fool. As scripture says the wisdom of God is foolishness to the world and this can include carnal Christians. As you live a devoted life, they want to bring you back to their way of life and will try and argue with you.
The Christians in the underground church in China suffer in a very cruel way. They live righteous lives and practice their faith even when that can lead to being put away in jail. One pastor that was visiting from the USA asked one of the apostles in China if they wanted the West to pray that the suffering and persecution would stop in China. The Chinese apostle said that by no means do they want the persecution to stop as that was what was growing the church in revival. He told the pastor that the Chinese Christians biggest fear was that their country would change in government and that they would stop persecuting them and that they would become lukewarm like the West in their faith. That was a sobering message to hear.
Be of good cheer, if your devotion to Jesus leads to persecution in your life, rest assured that the Kingdom of Heaven will be yours.
Be Blessed
